Time to catch up...let's start with a Fishin' Frenzy

So we are way behind on the blog.  Things have been busy with intersession camp, weekend programs, and spring break trips.  Today we will start with our Fishin' Frenzy program.

Sun shining on Lake Michie
It was a beautiful day out at Lake Michie, a little windy, but nice and sunny.  We of course learned how to safely flip out the bait, how to put bait on a hook, and then the final two lessons (catching and releasing the fish) were up to the participants.  Well actually, I get to do most of the relasing, but I do demonstrate how to properly and safely take the fish off the hook.
Relaxing while fishing

As usual things started out slow, but people were enjoying the day...but once the frenzy started, it got exciting.

Little fish, big smile

Fish kept biting...

And they kept biting...

All in all this was a great day.  Everyone caught at least one fish and for some it was their first one.  We'll post soon some more of what we have been doing.  Get outside and enjoy the spring, it'll be summer soon.

Fun weekend, Beavers and Fishing...

Hey Everyone,
So this weekend we have a couple of fun programs coming up.  On Saturday we have a Beaver Life program from 10am-noon at West Point on the Eno.  We will be meeting at the Environmental Education Center at West Point on the Eno.  You can just show up for this program, we do not require pre-registration.

On Sunday we are running our Fishin' Frenzy program.  The program is almost full so if you are interested please call us at 919-471-1623 (option 2).  This program is a great opportunity for children to learn to fish and if they are really lucky, they just might catch one.
